What are some good and affordable ways for advertising my webpage?
I have a web page I need to advertise. And really have no idea on how to go about advertising it. I need help. Real help. Not something that is going to rip me off.
Internet Marketing requires you to sale other people’s products or services, or if you have decided to create your own product, sale your own. But whether you are selling your own or others, we all have one thing in common – getting traffic to our websites. But what is most important is not just getting traffic, but targeted traffic. Thus, How Do you or I get traffic to our sites?
In my early beginnings on the Internet, I tried many methods of getting traffic to my website. I was definitely a newbie in training – some of the software or services that I bought did me no good. I found, at times, that it was truly difficult to decipher which was a good deal and which was not – who was honest, and who was not – but I guess it goes with the Internet territory – and you must always do your due diligence.
However, I have found three methods of getting traffic to my site or affiliate product or service – Buying it – PPC, such as Google, Mamma, Overture, linking or the hard one Search Engine Optimization.
Pay-Per-Click
If you have the money to invest in Google or some of the other search engines pay-per-click programs you can make some money. Here you create an ad or ads relevant to your affiliate program, and place a bid on the keywords you select. This takes time, energy, persistence and money – and research. Also, I would advise that you read your affiliate programs rules, as well as, the rules of Google Adwords before jumping into the pay-per-click arena. You usually have to put “aff” after your ad or something similar to that – it’s dependent upon the affiliate program you are in. The idea with pay-per-click is that you pay only when the individual clicks on your ad.
Linking
Linking can be by either paid or unpaid methods. The paid methods are paying for your link to be shown in Ezines, newsletters or on other peoples’ sites. It can be costly, so the best suggestion that I can give you is to research the Ezines, newsletters and or other people sites that you want to link with before buying. In most cases, if ezines are accepting advertising, you know they must have at least 500+ subscribers, or I should say, be sure that they have at least 500+ subscribers before advertising in their ezine. Know what you are getting before you put your money down – and as they always say, be sure to read the fine print.
The unpaid method is through article creation. This requires hard work on your part, but the return will be seen in the long term. Keep in mind, your articles should be relevant and address the subject matter of your site and products. Content reigns king on the Internet – and if it is relevant to their needs – they will eventually come to read.
Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Optimization is basically the optimization of your web pages so that you can get a decent ranking by the search engines, and thus, to pull people to your website by it relevance. This is a difficult chore and needs to continually be worked at – and within the ethics of the Search Engines.
To conclude, getting targeted people to your site is really part of growing your business. And Internet marketing – well, it’s not for the faint-hearted, but for the determined, persistent individual who wants to really make a living on-line. Thus, if you really want to make a living on-line – don’t give up and promote.
Hope this helps.

How should I go about getting a advertising job?
I’m 4 classes away from my BA degree in advertising. I already have a BA in finance, though I don’t like this area. My question is what is the best way to find a job in advertising/sales?
What aspect of the advertising team will be your specialty? If you have no direct experience, find a smaller company to target. As a new person to the field, you are going to have be able to sell to them to meet their needs specifically. So as you look through job descriptions, look for those specific markers that you will need to elaborate and emphasize in your cover letter. As always, know about the company you are applying for. For example, ABC Advertising has run a classified asking for a specialist or whatever along with skills and experience preferred. With the exception of those that state they want several years experience (versus at least one year), send your resume anyway. If you get an interview, you will need to know the method of advertising they do, the distribution and also about their direct competition. Armed with these things when you go into an interview new to the industry shows your level of interest (instead of the first job you could find) and shows your comprehension of their business. Good luck.

What type of advertising would be good for dog kennells?
My girlfriend is setting up her dog kennel’s and was wondering if anybody knew a good way for advertising for people to see that her service is there we are situated in Ireland. And if anbody knows a good advertising company and if anybody does advertising cards or anything like that would be great thank you.
You can get discount business cards on the internet- I would also put up fliers at the Vet offices, pet stores and contact as many dog show people as possible. Contact the British Kennel Club for show sites and dates, meet and make contact with people. Hand out cards, do some handshaking and schmoozing. Put ads in local papers, and on the radio. Have a Grand Opening with drawings for prizes and free goodies for the dogs- Like snacks with your business card attached or munchies for the owners with your business name on petit fours in the shape of biscuits. Its lots of work but once your name is out there if she gives little extras as well as great service, word of mouth will do the rest. Good Luck!
Killing Us Softly 4: Advertising’s Image of Women [Trailer]
Available on DVD – April 2010
http://www.mediaed.org
In this new, highly anticipated update of her pioneering Killing Us Softly series, the first in more than a decade, Jean Kilbourne takes a fresh look at how advertising traffics in distorted and destructive ideals of femininity. The film marshals a range of new print and television advertisements to lay bare a stunning pattern of damaging gender stereotypes — images and messages that too often reinforce unrealistic, and unhealthy, perceptions of beauty, perfection, and sexuality. By bringing Kilbourne’s groundbreaking analysis up to date, Killing Us Softly 4 stands to challenge a new generation of students to take advertising seriously, and to think critically about popular culture and its relationship to sexism, eating disorders, and gender violence.
Jean Kilbourne, Ed.D. is internationally recognized for her groundbreaking work on the image of women in advertising and for her critical studies of alcohol and tobacco advertising. In the late 1960s she began her exploration of the connection between advertising and several public health issues, including violence against women, eating disorders, and addiction, and launched a movement to promote media literacy as a way to prevent these problems. A radical and original idea at the time, this approach is now mainstream and an integral part of most prevention programs. Her films, lectures and television appearances have been seen by millions of people throughout the world. Kilbourne was named by The New York Times Magazine as one of the three most popular speakers on college campuses. She is the creator of the renowned Killing Us Softly: Advertising’s Image of Women film series and the author of the award-winning book Can’t Buy My Love: How Advertising Changes the Way We Think and Feel and co-author of So Sexy So Soon: The New Sexualized Childhood and What Parents Can Do to Protect Their Kids.

What types of advertising campaigns are most effective on you personally?
We are all influenced by the media and advertising. What types of advertising campaigns are most effective on you personally? Cite specific examples. What rhetorical devices do they use, and why do you think they are so effective?
We are all influenced by the media and advertising. What types of advertising campaigns are most effective on you personally? Cite specific examples. What rhetorical devices do they use, and why do you think they are so effective? It does not have to be just TV.. we are talking all Advertising.
I think those marketing campaigns are the best. Those at the roadside, where they do something innovative, creative, and out of the box. Like I saw this marketing campaign in the midst of a busy town. They were playing some games where some people try to hit bulleye. If they score, a girl would drop into the water.
It attracted quite a big crowd. Probably because of the girls but I guess the crowd wants to know what is it all about too.
What is a good advertising format for a website so everybody can be included and nobody feel left out?
Also, what would be aesthetically pleasing yet not look like such a cluster fluff. This would probably be like 500 to 1000 companies advertising any number of products and services. Or I would also take suggestions. Thanks.
Don’t seek to reinvent the wheel my freind…. What you need is a working buisness model for what you want to do….. The one site that comes to mind for making a large number of customers feel included is Yahoo! That’s what I said…. Yahoo! Yahoo! is the number #1 web portal in the world for shoppers. And this exactly why they are under a buy out from Microsoft! Study them well and learn young Jedi!
