Can anyone suggest a good sales & marketing book for selling a service?
I own a small business and work out of my home. I sell a service, not a product and would like some good reading material on sales and marketing.
Anything from Stephen Schiffman, Zig Zigler, OG Mandigo (The Greatest Salesman in the World), Selling to VITO, Susanne Roane (How to Work a Room) and Dale Carnegie (How to win friends and influence people).
PS the process is the same, regardless of what you sell. Spend more time on discovering/revealing the need than closing. Schiffman will spell this out for you.
Which online marketing strategies are the best?

Can anyone help me with a detailed affiliate marketing strategy?
I started getting involved in affiliate marketing a couple of months ago, but I feel like I am jumping all over and not getting anything accomplished. I need an actual affiliate marketing strategy that I can follow step by step. Does anybody have a good one to follow? I am willing to pay some money for a program or tutorial.
Just like you I only started doing affiliate marketing about 3 months ago, but before that I had researched it for about 3 months. I came across a website for Matt Bacak, www.mattbacak.com, who is already a millionaire and I think he is only like 30 years old. He has several products that you can buy and also a newsletter that you can subscribe to you called internet marketing Dirt. I have found his products and even his free information on affiliate marketing strategy a ton better and more informative than anybody else’s that I have come across in the 3 months that I did research on affiliate marketing.
I have only been doing actual affiliate marketing part-time at nights and on weekends for 3 months, but I am seeing some pretty good income right now. It’s enough to pay my car payment as well as groceries for the month for our family of 3 so I can’t complain. And I know that it will only increase the more I work at it because I am learning how to be more efficient every day. Although I may never be able to quit my full-time job, I will continue to have this extra money for quite awhile, which means that my wife can stop working.
Anyways, check out Matt’s website and check out the different products as well as his newsletters as he has a great affiliate marketing strategy and is very willing to share it with anyone who will listen.
Will the Small Business Administration waste their time on a college students marketing plan project?
Hello, I’m working on a marketing plan for my term assignment for my marketing plan. I’m actually considering opening up the business with a few pointers from the SBA. I want to make an appointment with a SCORE counselor, but I’m afraid that they will turn up their nose at me and tell me that they don’t have time for such nonsense (particularly because it’s a college project). Yes, I know fear can really hold one back, huh?
go for it. I met with SCORE when I was 22 about a biz plan, and they were very helpful. You don’t have to tell them it’s for a college class, just tell them it’s your business plan….because it is! They will give you paperwork and help you out! good luck!
I want to be very successful in the advertising/marketing business in Atlanta. How do I start?
I want to move to Atlanta in the next year, and start working in advertising. I know that you have to start at the bottom, but I don’t know where and how to at least get in to the door of the business. I’m currently going for an associates in marketing and I have one in business and when I do move to Atlanta I want to finish and get my Bachelors in one or the other. Do anyone have any suggestions?
So you’re good at marketing. I know of the perfect opp where you could put your skills to good use and empower yourself at the same time. I’m working with a 35 yr old company that has been experiencing tremedous growth in every quarter of doing business for the last 15 yrs of it’s existence. They are publicly traded on the highly respected NYSE and have been featured in top magazines such as Forbes, Money, Business Week, and many others. Not to many companies can say they have a track record like this. A few things that I love about the company I’m working with is it allows me the opportunity to Get Paid Daily, create Passive Income, and Residual Income. Best selling author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, Robert Kiyosaki openly stated "I should have started your business before starting my own…yours is the best compensation plan I have ever seen. Experts are saying our company will do more business in the next 35 months than we have in the last 35 years, and as of the end of 2006 revenues were at $445,000,000 if you would like more information on this this exciting business please email me at

What marketing strategies have been effective for you as a mortgage loan officer?
I’ve just gotten into the mortgage business in Texas. I’m looking for any tips to help me to deal with the marketing side of the business and any success stories of particular types of advertising. Thanks!
There are several marketing techniques that are in use today.
#1 You can purchase leads from a lead provider normal cost is approximately $25.00-$35.00 per lead and there is a minimum purchase amount like about 100 per purchase. Some of these are retreads, so you are really guessing which are real or is this someone that just like talking on the phone.
There are cheaper ones but they have been around the block a few times. So you are really guessing on these leads.
#2 There is telemarketing, but then there is the "Do not call list" So you have to be careful there and not make a mistake or you will be sued.
#3 Advertise in the local newspaper that you are now in the business of doing loans
#4 You can direct mail to individuals that you are in the business of doing loans.
I suggest you secure your own leads by leaving the office and spending time in a area that you want to work and get to know the people that could be your future clients.
Find an area in your city that you want to work approximately 5,000-10,000 houses. Make you enough flyers to cover your area. If you have children this will be a good weekend activity for them as well as yourself. While walking the area passing out your flyers, if you see someone out doing the lawn or just out introduce yourself, give them one of your cards. See if they are willing to give you their name and email address so you can email them, on a monthly basis, things about the mortgage industry as well as your monthly newsletter. Place any information you collect in a data base that you should start.
Your flyer should tell them a little about you a few of the loan programs that you will be offering and introducing. This is an introductory flyer that you can make on your computer. You can get them ran off at Staples or Office Depot.
You should pass these type flyers out at least 3 months in a row. This will let them know that you are sincere and look as if you will be there for them.
You should also visit the local commercial places in the same area. Find out if they will allow you to place a flyer holder in their business, give them one of your business cards, find out their
name, write it down you never want to forget it because they will become one of your partners. buy something even if you are gonna give it away and don’t need it. Do this to as many commercial businesses in the area as will allow you to place a flyer holder in their place of business. You will find the flyer holders at Staples or Office Depot..
Call the post office and inquire about their bulk mailing stamp. Get one and learn the system of bulk mailing.
Also call your title company and get them to provide you with the names of the people in your area that you have been passing out your flyer.
Remember your data base you were starting and now should have over a thousand names that you alone should have been able to get if you have been walking the area.
Once you have passed out the flyers for at least 3-4 months start you a newsletter covering topics on the mortgage business. Get articles from your local newspaper as well as off the internet. Just remember to give credit to the author of the article. You might have a doctor, lawyer or some other professional to help you on your articles. Charge them for the articles, about 50% of the cost of the newsletter.
Now remember the businesses that you had your flyers in and you now know their names because you have been there to change your flyers about 2 times per month. Place your news letter in these businesses also.
The best thing about these businesses is now you want to see if they will advertise in your business newsletter being sent to the local area in which their business is located. You should be able to charge them about $45.00 to $50.00 per business size card advertisement. Try and get them to place a coupon in the flyer offering some type of discount if the customer bring the coupon in to their store.
Now you will need a professional team to assist you in your business. You will need an attorney, a notary, a title rep, an insurance agent that sell homeowners insurance policies and a real estate agent. You should pass out their cards to your clients that need their services and they should pass out your business cards to their clients that need your services. This should give you a steady supply of referrals. This should not be a one way street, they should be helping you as much as they are in the habit of helping you. So you might have to change your professional team to get what need to be accomplished.
Now that you have your bulk stamp, your newsletter and your data base that you have now added from your title rep to the names you had already. You are now ready to mail or email your newsletter each month.
Don’t forget to offer your clients a FSBO package, where you will qualify their possible buyers if they are not pre-approved already. You will want to assist them in setting up an open house where you will be there to assist potential buyers and most importantly pre-approve all those that come to look at the house that aren’t. This will give you a steady source of leads also. This should always be in your monthly newsletter that you will assist all those that want to sell their own property. You can charge them $500.00 for providing escrow service, title services, appraisals and other services they will need to close the transaction. With the $500.00 you should be able to place an ad in the local paper of all open houses you will be conducting on the 2nd and 4th weekend of each month or whatever weekend you chose to have open houses.
What ever you do, don’t try to talk them out of selling their own home, you are there to assist and get to the clients that need pre-approval for loans to purchase homes. They would not be at an open house unless they were considering buying. Always have an ample supply of 1003’s on hand.
I hope this has been of some help to you, good luck.

what is the average salary I should request as an Internet Marketing Associate in India?
I’m from Malaysia but I’m keen to work overseas as I believe the wages in other countries are much higher than in my own country. What is the average wages in India for an Internet-related position such as Internet marketing Associate?
A lot of the companies in America "outsource" to India because the pay is much lower than here in the "States". There is an old saying that you get what ever the traffic will bear. IOW ask high and negotiate from there. If possible read the "Help Wanted" for India in your line of work. They may mention income, I don’t know much about India but I can always tell when I am speaking to some one there because of the accent. Assume that you can speak and understand good English.
What would be good to go along with a Degree in Business Marketing?
what would be a good minor and what kind of jobs could I get with this combination.
Just need some decent answers from people in the business world, not stay at home moms..
What kind of job could I get with Business Marketing degree alone (location [urban, rural, suburbs]?
What kind of job could i get with the combination Bus. Market. + Communications?
What kind of jobs could I get with your suggestions? Salary estimate would be great too.
Major in Business Marketing and Minor in Journalism or a foreign language.. Spanish, Italian etc…
In business you need to know how to write and present yourself in most business settings…
As our country’s social setting continues to change, being bilingual (able to speak more than one language, fluently) is also a plus in the job market.
Great career jobs for business marketing could be: Becoming a sales reps or business analysts. Sales rep, depending on what industry you decide…on average a pharmaceutical sales rep salary ranges from $59K to $100K.. Telecom, (Verizon, Cingular) sales reps $55K to $95K.. because in most cases sales is commission based, you create your salary.
Basically with your degrees you should look into sales or Call Center Management..these will offer you business marketing options and a chance to use you Communications degree at best. Don’t forget that a career in Finance could be ideal with a business marketing degree.. It’s all applicable!!!!!!
Best wishes.
How does an advertising agency get paid?
I worked at a radio station selling advertising. When I would ask my supervisor and boss how a marketing / advertising agency works, the answer I would get is…it’s not worth your time or hard work. I have since quit my job due to, well, my boss was a tyrant, but that’s irrelevant. I have run into a couple of my old clients that have asked me to handle their advertising, but I have no idea how to charge them or how I get paid by the advertising avenues. Can someone please tell me, how does an advertising agency get paid? Please be specific…thank you!
They charge a fee for creative work, and make a 15% commission on media. This means if they place media buys, such as television or radio air time, or print media space, such as newspapers, magazines, or billboards, they add the standard 15% commission on the costs of the media.
If they produce print work, they add a commission on to that as well.
Or they may charge a flat monthly rate for creative work and sign a long term contract with a client guaranteeing X amount of work for X amount of money. (A one to three year contract is normal.)
There may be fees for additional work requested by the client such as producing original market research–polling potential clients with taste tests of a product for instance.
(And you may be able to tie in bonuses for proof of pre-determined levels of effectiveness. Say the client is opening a new store location, and you get 500 people to show up and get a spot on the local evening news.)
Go to the business section of your local library. The librarian will be able to help you find shelves of books that explain this all in detail.
